Bronwyn is a qualified Gold & Silversmith and owner of The Goldsmith’s Gallery .
She has been handmaking and designing her own unique jewellery for over 40 years.
Her love of precious metals, stones and pearls began at RMIT in Melbourne in 1973 when she became one of 12 students chosen from over 200 applicants to undertake the Associate Diploma of Gold & Silversmithing; a 3 year course that was to change her life forever.
Bronwyn is represented in the Australian National Gallery and has taken part in many National and International exhibitions over the past 40 years.
This is not her first gallery, in 1979 she opened a gallery with her friend from RMIT Robyn Holtham, it was called WORKS II, and was in the foothills of the Dandenongs, in a small township known as The Basin. After 4 years they both had the urge to reproduce and the small bespoke gallery closed its doors, but they both continued to make their jewellery from home while enjoying motherhood. They are still close friends and Robyn is currently living in Adelaide.
Bronwyn also studied to become a Secondary Teacher and spent over 25 years in the Education System.
In 2002 she made the huge decision to leave teaching Secondary students and go back to her workshop full time in Wantirna to teach adults and make jewellery.
In 2009 she opened The Goldsmith’s Gallery in San Remo,in 20018 Bronwyn retired and is now setting up her home based Studio in San Remo, Victoria……she will be working from The Goldsmith’s Studio in 2019….by Appointment only.
The Gold and Silversmith’s Guild of Australia
In 1988 a group of manufacturing jewellers, aware of the traditions and a need for a higher degree of consumer protection in the precious metals industry, instigated and formed The Gold and Silversmiths Guild of Australia.
The Guild is the only professional organization in Australia with a traditional and comprehensive system of marking precious metal items.
Guild Members’ names and marks are permanently recorded, they abide by set standards of material, their work is clearly identified as genuinely made in Australia, and the date of manufacture can be recorded.
Bronwyn is former President and committee member of the Gold & Silversmiths Guild of Australia. She is a Fellow #100 of the Guild and her gallery is Full Member #20. She takes pride in stamping her work with her Makers Mark as well as the Guild Kangaroo Head and purity of Metal Marks.
The Guild’s principal aim is to promote the Guild Mark as a symbol of excellence.
